Here at Amazon we are looking to hire an experienced Reliability Engineering Manager to join the team in one of our highly automated and fast paced Fulfillment Centers (FC).
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Reliability Engineering Manager is the site lead for all Engineering matters within a building. They are responsible for leading their team and building a culture of safety; for ensuring all statutory compliance requirements are followed to provide a safe working environment for all occupants of the building; for providing a high level of equipment availability to the General Manager and for working with the EU Engineering team to plan for future growth. They are also required to take part in network wide improvement initiatives and to implement standards created elsewhere in the network.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the team, own the annual reporting responsibilities for the team and mentor their direct reports who in turn develop the technicians within the team.
  • Work with the site Safety department & Site Leadership to implement, record and audit safety and statutory compliance programmes to provide a safe working environment for all staff. Own the legal responsibilities as the site engineering lead within this framework.
  • Work with the recruitment team to ensure allocated headcount is filled with high quality experienced staff. This may include support to Apprentice and Graduate programmes.
  • Implement standards validated by the EU Engineering team and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to create or update standards as required in order to provide high levels of safety and equipment availability to our internal customers. A key focus is on preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Maintain equipment failure contingency plans, drive rehearsals with affected parties and be prepared to work in a flexible manner to ensure failures or breakdowns are rectified as quickly as possible.
  • Maintain a long term focus by working with Site Management, Finance, the EU Engineering team and internal design teams to plan for future growth, upgrades or new equipment roll outs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of Engineering team leadership experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) from an accredited university or 2+ years experience in an Amazon engineering team.
  • Multi skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Excellent communications skills (written & verbal) in English and the local language.
  • Experience of automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation and conveyor systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time but work from the FC in the northwest Italy.

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards it.
  • Full working knowledge of all specialized engineering and facilities equipment within the FC as well as maintenance and safety procedures

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Foseco (part of the Vesuvius Group) is a world leader in the supply of consumables and foundry solutions. Foundry production is highly sequential and strongly depends on product quality homogeneity and productivity optimization. Our solutions and our advanced computer simulation techniques allow foundries to reduce casting defects such as blowholes, shrinkage cavities, inclusions, sintering, penetration or ridges. Therefore, Foseco products reduce the demanding deburring and machining operations, minimize the use requirements of metals, influence the metal solidification process and automate forming and casting, reducing costs, energy consumption and shape dimensions.

This is the role
As Sales Engineer you will take the lead for the continuity and growth of sales in the foundry industry in your designated region. You will be responsible for the Ferrous (foundry consumables and equipment to meet the requirements of steel and cast iron foundries) product line and actively manage the sales cycle in the Milano / Bréscia region. As Sales Engineer you will have client portfolio consisting of 100% foundry customers where you offer account management for existing customers and new business development on consultative selling principles.
You will work in close interaction with Application Development Engineers and Product Managers, who are your technical support baseline, when setting up trials and optimization projects with customers or prospects. Although your technical knowledge is required to properly advise customers, Vesuvius can / will invest in developing your technical knowledge in foundry technology.

  • Generate sales by providing sales & (limited) technical advice to both existing and potential customers;
  • The focus of your work as a Sales Engineer is to expand the customer base in foundry consumables and equipment to meet the requirements of steel foundries;
  • Manage the end to end sales process through engagement of appropriate resources such as Application Development Engineers, Product Managers, Technical Managers, Partners, etc.;
  • Use your solution selling expertise to respond optimally to customer needs and identify business potential in order to to create a strategic, long-term partnership with your customers;
  • Strengthen client relationships through regular engagement and face-to-face meetings;
  • Maintaining a long term perspective to maximise overall revenue generation while being able to generate short term results;
  • Create and maintain a sales pipeline to ensure over-achievement within the designated market sector(s).
This is what you bring
  • Experience in foundry industry is preferred;
  • Knowledge of or experience with foundry consumables and equipment for steel and iron casting foundries is preferred;
  • >5 years commercial experience (technical);
  • Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant direction;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Fluent in Italian and professional mastery of the English language.
