What you will do
The primary responsibility of this role will be to focus on Tax Compliance activities covering areas such as DAC 6, general tax compliance and controversy work. This is a unique opportunity to develop knowledge and experience in DAC 6 as training will be provided.

How you will do it

• Assisting the Global Tax Operation and Tax Technology teams in the preparation of DAC 6 documentation and policy (DAC 6 internal policy, work instructions, process implementation, country guidance with respect to transactions/arrangements falling within DAC 6 hallmarks etc.)
• Being the main point of contact internally for technical enquiries on whether or not an arrangement is potentially within scope for disclosure and related  implications
• Assisting the Regional Tax Management to meet JCI’s obligations in relation to historic matters and coordinate with advisors.
• Monitoring DAC 6 reporting process (i.e. review of DAC 6 arrangements to be or not reported/ coordinating with tax intermediaries and other 3rd parties involved when necessary, ensuring reporting consistency across regions, management of the 30 days reporting deadline with parties involved etc.)
• Assisting the Regional Tax team to ensure that JCI’s global tax compliance obligations are met and with projects as they arise
• Liaising with tax lawyers across our EU offices to keep up to date on latest developments including the detail of implementing legislation, guidance notes from tax authorities etc.
• Educating team members and advisors on DAC 6 issues via communications and training.
• Preparing reports for Tax Management on key risk issues/compliance
• Working with Global Tax Operation / Tax Technology and IT teams and/or a third party providers to implement and enhance tax process and compliance solutions
• Assisting in EMEA tax computations and reporting on a timely basis finalized tax calculations to the Regional Tax Management / tax authorities within agreed deadlines.
• Coordinating with external providers / Regional Tax Management to understand the requirements at the start of each compliance cycle and providing instructions to the tax computation preparers.
• Reviewing and/or preparing draft tax computations produced to ensure correct tax treatment of items and determine whether further information is required and delivering  high quality, technically accurate final draft tax computations, ready for final review
• Visiting the region when appropriate.
• Liaising with Regional Tax Management to obtain additional information if required, and providing updates to the tax computation preparers to enable them to provide an updated draft computation for subsequent review.
• Identifying and resolving tax technical issues, preparing technical analysis with the involvement of tax specialists when appropriate to prepare or review the tax analysis.
• Providing advice and support to the Regional Tax Management, as requested, including for example providing assistance in gathering information for tax audits and drafting of responses to tax authority correspondence

What we look for
Required

• 3 years Tax Compliance or Tax Accounting experience
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and planning skills
• Strong ability to recognize, respond to customer expectations with sense of urgency and even increase expectations
• Team player with a positive 'can do’ attitude
• Ability to work ethically and with full integrity when making time sensitive or difficult decisions
• Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions for challenges and obstacles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint)
• Fluency in English

Preferred

• Knowledge and understanding of DAC 6 legislation 
• Knowledge or experience of International Tax
• International GAAP (IFRS) knowledge and understanding of deferred taxes under US GAAP/IFRS reporting
• Experience with SAP and/or Oracle
• Hyperion knowledge (Enterprise/HFM)
